Well, I’m sitting in my office right now w/ a SUIT JACKET on because I’m about to be interviewed by WJCT about young entrepreneurs. It’ll be fun being on the other side of the camera for once! I shoot myself for KP promotions and as a fill in for talent, but this time, some else will be shooting. Crazy.

I’ll let you know how it goes…I’ll probably forget my name.

Today was my first introduction to the monopod. My friend Donna from Video Specialties is letting me borrow hers to try it out. I tried it today in the studio and had mixed feelings.

For those of you who don’t know, a monopod is just like a tripod but with only one leg. It is used for more versatility but with comparable support and steadiness.

As a company that employs many hand-held techniques for creative shooting, it may be a decent fit. I think it may, though, be for shooters who are not confident in their hand-held prowess but want to add a safer version of the shots.

We’ll check it out a bit at our next wedding, but I believe we’ll be sticking with tripod and hand-held. The monopod does not feel steady enough for the locked down, ceremony shots, and not maneuverable enough for the creative shots that we love.

For you shooters out there that are strictly tripod shooters, this is a great tool for you to get out of the box.

We’ll probably use it a bit for some high shots, steadier walking shots and some wacky stuff.

I’m writing this as I get ready to attend the NACE board meeting for the month of February. NACE stands for the National Association of Catering Executives and is a great way for me to market KP wedding videos.

Catering Executives are the contact for a bride when trying to book the location of their special day. If you want to book your wedding, say, at the Casa Monica in Saint Augustine, you need to speak to their Catering Manager.

These Catering Executives usually have a preferred vendor list they will hand to the bride after they book. It is, like it sounds, a list of the vendors (photographers, djs, bands, florists and VIDEOGRAPHERS) they recommend. Being on a list like this is gold.

One of the main thrusts of the Kennetic Productions Wedding Video marketing campaign is placement on as many of these lists as possible. That, along with the good friends and fun, is why I belong to NACE. It allows Kennetic Productions to get in front of some of the most important people in the industry.

So…I’m off!

Well, it’s finally Friday and time to relax! We don’t have a wedding this weekend, so we’ll be able to have a work-free weekend. Our next wedding is on February 15th…a Friday. Should be fun!

Today I wrote up some proposals and tried to fix up my PC. Spyware can be rough. If anyone needs some good, free virus and spyware control, go to www.avgsoft.com.

That’s it for now…enjoy the weekend and try to figure out something to do on Sunday w/o football.

Oh, I also met with a possible new client today. They are looking to consolidate their collateral materials onto video. Business Card CD is perfect for this…and we get to add a fancy, testimonial based video to help separate them from their competition and establish trust with their potential clients.

It’s great the versatility of video. We can have so many different clients!!!

It’s day 2 of the Kennetic Productions blog and I’m considering writing one a day. Let’s see how well that works out.

As you can see from my homepage, I have been named the Small Business Leader of the Year for the South Council of the Jacksonville Regional Chamber of Commerce. So, needless to say, the Chamber is a big part of the KP marketing strategy.

If you are just starting a business, or have been in business 20 years and you are not a member of your regional Chamber…go knock down the doors w/ your check in hand. Joining the chamber is one of the most effective and cost effective ways in which to drum up both exposure and biz.

Oh, and “what’s up” to the Professional Women’s Council (part of the Chamber). I attended their social last night and it was a great success…I also turned in my membership application!

More to come….

Welcome to the Kennetic Productions, Inc. Blog!

It is here where you will not only be able to view the ramblings of a 26-year-old entrepreneur navigating his way through the Jacksonville Video Scene (ME!), but you’ll also be able to view and comment on some of the exciting work Kennetic Productions is undertaking.

Feel free to leave your comments or questions about our work or about starting your own business from scratch. Both are topics I can talk to at length!
